LECTORS

Lay Readers, Intercessors

Laura Meadows
Worship Coordinator

God is made known to us in the sacred words of Scripture, and the opportunity to proclaim the readings is a privilege and joy. Those who are called to the role of Lector are entrusted with this holy work, and by their faithful proclamation they help us all experience God speaking to us afresh each time we are gathered together.

There are typically two Lectors in each service—the Lay Reader, who delivers the scriptural lessons, and the Intercessor, who leads the Prayers of the People.

Lectors are not required to be licensed, and anyone with a love of Scripture and a good speaking voice can be a Lector, after a short training session. Lectors serve on a rotating basis. If you are interested in reading for one of the Sunday services, please contact Laura Meadows.
